In today’s alternative health setting, we are seeing a lot of chronic diseases and inflammatory disorders that have substantial roots in adrenal fatigue.  There are many causes of adrenal fatigue, but stress is at the top of the ladder.  In our extremely busy, non-stop and hyper-convenient world it isn’t hard to see why.  All of you who have Blackberry prostheses know exactly how bad stress can get.  However, one of the biggest sources of stress comes from driving to work.  That morning commute can as much as double your cortisol levels (cortisol is the anti-inflammatory hormone that your adrenal glands produce in response to danger and stress).  The longer and more stressful the commute, the worse it gets.  When the adrenals weaken sufficiently, it is much easier for chronic disease to take hold.  If you also happen to be training hard for that triathlon without taking proper rest days, combined with being married and having two kids, and mortgage payments and car payments… it isn’t hard to see where it leads.  Some of the interventions that help restore the adrenals are:

Acupuncture, Yoga, Vitamin C, eggs and butter (not margarine), meditation, low dose cortisone and less driving.

If we had high speed rail transit grids linking all major hubs in Canada, we could not only increase public health significantly via better air quality and lower stress levels, but also save health care dollars and reduce the costs of insurance (health, life, auto…).  With that in mind, I took it upon myself to write Mr. Harper to make these suggestions.  Here is an excerpt of that letter:

Dear Prime Minister Harper,

I am writing you to propose a suggestion to you regarding stimulating the economy.  The big economic “stimulus” packages aren’t working.  They are merely going into higher salaries for corporate CEOs, and tax havens in the Cayman islands.  General Motors was dead a long time ago.  What we are now witnessing is merely it’s death rattles.  In order to truly stimulate the economy, something of inherent value needs to be produced.

What I propose that you do would be to form a government corporation and partner it with Bombardier and CP Rail (both Canadian companies).  What its mandate should be is to design and build high-speed Maglev (magnetic levitation) trains to all major cities within Canada.  In order to do this, you will obviously need many employees to work on this project.  I think that you will be able to find these people in the dying automotive industry as they will be more than happy to continue eating and paying their mortgages.

The reason why this aforementioned corporation must be a public-private partnership is that that is the only way to by-pass big oil’s vested interest in preventing this from ever occurring.  In addition, infrastructure will become far more productive and valuable, the environment will benefit enormously due to less need of continental aviation and “gasp”, cars, and you will be touted as a hero for your imagination and courage at making such a ground-breaking step towards fixing things.  Of course, you can also choose not to do this and watch as the economy continues to soil itself, and people become more and more desperate, and angrier at you.

Yours Hopefully,

Dr. Alexander Audette R.Ac, TCMD, B.Eng.

That was two years ago and I am still waiting patiently for a reply.

Be Well.
